Item details

An Authentic Victorian / Antebellum / Civil War Era Fancy Shawl Knitted Pattern originally published in 1858!

This listing is for the jpg pattern only, not for the finished item. Great for historical village reenactors, opera, stage and theater costumers, students of historical fabric arts and those who just LOVE TO WEAR A TOTALLY UNIQUE, ONE-OF-A-KIND ACCESSORY!

Great for Weddings, Proms, clubbing and more!

The pattern is reproduced via very time consuming scanning, with the woodcuts, metal engravings and text being restored for optimal reading and saved in jpg format to share with history buffs everywhere!

I literally have a house full of my collection of antique books and magazines from the mid-1800s to the 1960s. I'll never live long enough to share them all but I strive to list fresh-to-you, rare Antebellum, Civil War, Victorian, Edwardian, Gibson Girl, WWI and Flapper era clothing pattern republications here!

Two excerpts:

"This is a shawl, which we have ourselves designed and knit; and know it, therefore, to be convenient and tasteful."

"Materials. -- Five oz. white double zephyr, seven oz. of colored single zephyr, one pair very large wooden needles for centre, one pair small bone needles for border."

Our jpg files are readable and printable on most computers. JPG files work with Adobe Acrobat Reader and other photo handling software products via both common PCs and Macs.
