This incredible skein of silk was dyed by hand back in the 1920's in Japan. No one seems to know what kind of dye was used, it's not aniline and not a natural plant dye, but whatever it is, the color is intense and vibrant and has not faded over the long years of its' existence. Nor has it been weakened, it is strong and those who have used it for weaving, sewing or embroidery report no problems and come back for more. If you love it, be sure to purchase what you will need. When this is gone, there will be no more. One interesting aspect is that when you squeeze it, it squeaks! The thread is sold by the ounce; $10.00 per ounce.
* The shades in each color category may vary slightly due to dye lots
