Production quality RTW sewing pattern for a man's bomber jacket. Garment is fully lined, front zipper, welt pockets etc. The separate listing for the 59 page instruction manual with over 80 (mostly full color) detailed photographs and illustrations is strongly recommended. This pattern may be used for manufacturing without royalties. This is not a download; you will receive a printed pattern in the mail. This jacket is generously sized (cowboy sizing) so you may want to go down a size. My husband (office worker) normally wears a large in RTW but he takes a medium in this pattern (he is 5'10", 42 chest and 185lbs) and it is too long on him; I will shorten his next coat by 1.5".
Please note, the instruction manual is sold separately. On Etsy, it is not possible to sell a physical item that has a download too. It is either one or the other. The prices have been adjusted so that the package price works out to 29.99. The instruction manual is $5.99.
Again, these jackets are cowboy sized (roomy, include extended range of motion) and perfect for taller men (and women). Even if you are not wrestling calves all day and typically get the next larger size in RTW just to have something that will cover your wrists, DO NOT purchase one size larger in this pattern. Seriously, if you're not actively working outdoors, buy one size smaller than you normally do -even if you are tall.
The sizes the pattern is intended to fit are below. Actual PATTERN chest dimensions are in parenthesis which shows that 8" worth of wearing ease is intended:
S- 42" (50")
M- 44" (52")
L- 46" (54")
If you are tall (6'1" or more), you should probably get the long version of this style (#12602). Again, even in this tall size, if you're not baling hay, mucking out barns, pulling fencing, or shoveling out drainage ditches, buy one size smaller than your usual RTW size. The #12602 will fit height 6'1" or 6'2" up to 6'4" to 6'5".
Shipping costs: I can't figure out how this rate is calculated on Etsy but if you are overcharged, I will refund you. In my opinion, excessive shipping charges as a revenue source is annoying; the online retailing equivalent of rolling drunks for pocket change. If you're charged too much, just email me asking if your cost should be lower and I'll refund you. Each pattern weighs about 8 oz.
Materials: This is hard to say because I don't know how wide your fabric is, what size you'll buy or how you'll combine contrast to shell. If you do it as shown, the shell is under a yard. Contrast (due to sleeve length) is an easy 3/4 yard (but why not buy a full yard and pre-wash it for shrinkage? You might do the same for the shell; I do). Lining is about 1.5 yards. Ribbing is difficult to estimate based on widths. The instruction manual (which you download immediately) has more information on the last page.
The manual lists a good source to purchase heavy ribbing since this item is so hard to source. In fact, the reason I didn't release this pattern 3 years ago was because I couldn't find a source for RTW quality outwear ribbing in a nice range of colors at what I would consider to be a reasonable cost.
