Fall is here in Central New York, and roadside stands are filled with all kinds of winter squash and apple varieties. Now is the perfect time to bake apples and squash.
I have created this baking dish from a warm brown stoneware clay and a brilliant blue food safe glaze that I call Finger Lakes Blues. It is safe to use in the microwave or oven.
Use this pottery baking dish to bake an apple or acorn squash. It can accomodate an apple diameter of up to 4 inches. Great for a single serving or a serving to share with your honey, it makes a great presentation at the table.
The spike in the center holds a cored apple or squash in place and brings heat into the center of the fruit while baking so that it cooks evenly. A recipe accompanies your dish on purchase.
To bake an acorn squash, cut the bottom flat and cut open and core the top, removing the seeds. Bake with a little bit of water, butter, and brown sugar.
