KNITTING PATTERN for CABLED FISHERMANS STYLE HAT
Inish Mor- "the Big island"- is the largest of the "Aran Islands" located off the west coast of Ireland. The islands are the most westerly points in Europe ...next stop is New York. These islands are the home of the beautiful Aran knitwear, and the traditional patterns used in the sweaters and knitwear worn by the local fishermen, and their families. The islands remain beautiful and unspoilt, covered in rich green fields, separated by grey dry stone walls and surrounded by the deep blues of the Atlantic ocean. In this hat I used a thick, cabled pattern reflecting the cabled ropes used by fishermen, and a tweedy brown colour which reflects the beautiful landscape. The hat looks beautiful in any color, either a plain solid color or a variegated mixed color combination.
The yarn is 100% pure wool, but you can knit this beanie in wool-free or wool-mix yarns also. The yarn is a weight 4 , Aran/Worsted/Medium weight yarn. It is cosy and warm to wear, and the basic beanie style hat suits everyone
The pattern is written for both straight needles and also to knit in the round , on circular needles, finished with double-pointed needles. The instructions are given for both methods.
It is an intermediate level knit .
The hat can be knit in 5 sizes from Small to XX-Large, so will fit men and women.
This hat is an original design from RomeoRomeo and ARTESANA.
