This is the Fall / Winter 1956 - 57 issue of McCall’s Needlework & Crafts Magazine. The cover photo is a perfect example of a mid century well dressed living room with modern furniture, lighting and wall décor. This is DIY extraordinaire! They even feature a section on weaving the fabric for the couch and chair! There are pages of instructions and patterns for an array of crafts, including knitting, tatting, crochet, stenciling, rug making, weaving, sewing, mosaics, furniture making, and more. There are quite a few articles on decorating as well.
The advertisements alone are worth the price of the magazine, and are in frameable condition. “SUDDENLY IT’S LOVELY through the magic of WALCO BOUTIQUE” for some sort of a forerunner to the Bedazzler. You take a simple item and “glorify it” by “encrusting it with brilliant jewels, sparkling rhinestones, colorful carved flowers and fruits, and dazzling pearl novelties”. “You’ll beam with pride at your achievement…” If you think adverts today are over the top, you have to see these!
While this magazine does not look new and has been read, it still is in excellent vintage condition, with no missing or damaged pages and no underlining or highlighting of text or writing in the margins.

Returns & exchanges
To most vintage buyers / collectors, imperfections are part of the charm of vintage pieces, infusing them with a spirit of the past. Because of this, all my items are sold “AS IS” and all sales are final unless I gravely misrepresent the piece in my description.
My goal is to make you happy so that you will become a regular customer and recommend my shop to others. If you have any concerns or problems, please let me know so that we can reach a mutually happy ending.
