In Bram Stoker’s classic novel “Dracula”, Jonathan Harker has arrived at the Castle Dracula and is greeted by the vampire Count. Over the course of dinner, Mr. Harker finds himself increasingly disturbed by his surroundings, and by his host. As he prepares for bed, Mr. Harker writes in his journal: "I am all in a sea of wonders. I doubt; I fear; I think strange things which I dare not confess to my own soul. God keep me, if only for the sake of those dear to me!"
For the border I decided a basic pattern of waves would best evoke the feeling of being in a “sea of wonders”. As I felt the font had a vaguely ancient Greek mosaic feel to it, I went with a similar feel for the waves.
This pattern measures 117 x 88 stitches. The sample was stitched on 14ct Aida cloth, and (stitched area) measures 8 ¼” by 6 1/8”. It took about 18 hours to stitch.
