The time dedicated to the feast of love has already begun and this year I decided to draw my own version of an ancient and wonderful theme: "The Lady and the Unicorn." Maybe you know the beautiful Medieval tapestries of "La Dame à la Licorne", which depicts the five senses plus other deep and arcane symbologies.
One of these tapestries, the largest and most beautiful one, bearing the french words "A mon seul desir" ("my only desire"). This phrase is difficult to interpret, but considering the beauty of these tapestries, that illustrate the flourished nature and the grace of the Lady beside the Unicorn, which symbolizes pure and divine Love, the words could mean that this Love is "the only desire", in front of which every material richness is put away, as well as the lady puts the necklace in her coffer.
This is just one of the many interpretations, but since ancient times the symbolism of the Unicorn has been this: Love, Purity, Beauty, Grace, Harmony. The Unique Desire of a real Lady.
The pattern portraits precisely this meaning :)
As an alternative to the French quotation, I have prepared another phrase included in the pattern, inspired by the wonderful poem "She walks in Beauty" by Lord Byron. So you can choose either version and stitch your favorite one.
And now I just have to wish you a wonderful Feast of Love, in all its highest and beautiful shapes :)
For me this is truly the best wish that it can make you: that true Love is the Only One Desire, and that it may reflect for you the whole Purity, Grace and Beauty symbolized by the Unicorn and his sweet Lady.
