Grafted moon cactus
More about Assorted Grafted Cactus
Gymnocalycium mihanovichii friedrichii is commonly known as 'Hibotan' or "Moon Cactus". This variant occurs when the plant lacks chlorophyll and the body color manifests as beautiful pink, orange, yellow, or red rather than the typical green. It was discovered that these beautiful seedlings could not survive as they did not have "chlorophyll" and were therefore incapable of producing the necessary chemical changes that are involved in photosynthesis and which are necessary for the production of the "food" that is necessary for the plant to grow and thrive. It was determined that if these tiny seedlings were "grafted" (an actual physical union of the vascular systems of the two plants) onto fast growing plants such as Hylocereus, that the "base" plant could provide the necessary chlorphyll for the "upper" plant (in this case the Gymnocalycium seedling lacking in chlorophyll) to thrive. Pink is not the only "achlorophyllus" color that occurs; in fact, many beautiful seedlings are born in many genera that are yellow, pink, orange, or many combinations of these colors. "Moon Cactus" is an excellent subject for windowsill culture. Requires porous cactus soil with adequate drainage. Prefers filtered light or shade with ample airflow. Water thoroughly when soil is dry to the touch. Protect from frost.
This Grafted Moon Cactus has vibrant colors in brilliant ruby and sun kissed yellow and orange. Create your own terrarium or centerpiece using ever-popular Moon Cactus as the focal point. No two Grafted Moon Cactus are exactly alike. Buy these beautiful plants in bulk and use as wedding or party favors. Discounts are available for purchases, just contact me for more info.
Cactus plants are among the hardiest, most drought-tolerant in the world and are very easy to maintain, as long as they are planted in a porous cactus-succulent soil, given proper drainage, daily bright light, and never over water them.

Shipping & policies
Shipping 3-6 days with a few exceptions via USPS 2-3 day priority mail. We run specials during the holidays and shipping times will change, and will posted. Once the plant is ordered, we want to make sure that the roots are bare when shipped. Please open your package and unwrap as soon as they arrive. Succulent plants can lose their color and as with all living plants, they really prefer to get out of their boxes and into a good soil mixture. Any of the listings that state plants are shipped bare root means that they are out of the pot and have very little soil. While they can travel that way its best to get them replanted as soon as they get to their new home.
Etsy and PayPal addresses must match. We are not responsible if the package is sent to an incorrect address, so please verify the shipping address. Another option, if you order please check your ship date. Our orders ship in 3-6 business days. If you need your order sooner than the ship date place a note in your order. I will be happy to try and get it in the mail sooner if possible.
