luxury wool alpaca silk roving, 19-20 micron natural black merino wool blended in a 55/17/11/17 ratio with black suri alpaca, silk, and carbonized bamboo. This is a supersoft mixture, suitable for next-to-skin use, spins like butter, suitable for spinning very fine should you desire, such as in a laceweight yarn but also will spin a very lofty yarn. Suri alpaca has great luster and long staple length, drapes beautifully. The wool has a very fine crimp which will provide elasticity and memory to your yarn. This is a squooshy soft yarn, gorgeous for any project where softness is the issue. This is a duplicate of our previous black merino blend but carbonized bamboo adds just a little more drape, silkiness, and oomph.
The merino is from Mendenhall Wool Ranch in CA, a pristine jacketed fleece from an operation that has been breeding for color and staple length for decades. The suri alpaca is from Spinners End (Etsy shop) raised in Michigan's UP. This roving was processed carefully in a smal batch by Chris at Dakota Fiber Mill. We are enthusiastic about the quality of product from these small businesses, and we try out all of these fibers ourselves in sample yarns. I am absolutely certain, as I have started to spin this batch, that you will not find better spinning fiber from anyone.
This listing is for 4 ounces. I have plenty of this so convo me if you want a different amount. Roving is packed in boxes rather than a poly mailer to prevent smashing your beautiful lofty spinning fiber, so shipping charges are slightly higher. This fiber would also be spectacular for felting, especially something like nuno felt on silk, where the fineness and sheen will be gorgeous and soft.
