Item details

This is a new tutorial for those who want to learn using local plants for making marks on silk. The projects in this tutorial are easy and certainly suitable for beginners in natural dyeing, as well as those who want to try something different. Although the plant material is used directly on the silk to create marks, this is not to teach you how to get leaf prints onto fabric. I have focussed on making pattern through tie dyeing.

There is a short introduction about mordants and there are 3 different projects explained in detail. Your outcome might be completely a surprise, as this is what it always is with natural dyeing. You can use this as a start to experiment with plant dyeing.

Natural dyeing has re emerged from a nearly dormancy stage and a lot of people choose this environmental way of colouring cloth above synthetic dyes.

You will need a silk scarf or silk fabric for each project, some rusted metal pieces and local plants, together with a cooking pot, that you can easily pick up in a second hand shop.

This natural dyeing tutorial is documented with lots of photos and text in a step by step form in a pdf file. You will need acrobat reader (can be downloaded for free) on your computer to download the tutorial.
This tutorial is for your own personal use. Please do not resell or give away this tutorial or part thereof. Thanks for understanding.

Once you purchase the pattern, you will be directed to the PDF file on etsy for instant download.
