The Emerald is the birthstone for May, and is fifth in a series of small birthstone samplers. These can be stitched separately, or in combination. Stitch them as birth samplers, family samplers, wedding or anniversary samplers, or if you're really brave, stitch them all together! I've included a border idea for joining them up.
Stitch Count: 100w x 100h
Design Size: 5 x 5 inches on 40 count fabric
5 ½ x 5 ½ inches on 36 count fabric
6 ¼ x 6 ¼ inches on 32 count fabric
7 ¼ x 7 ¼ inches on 28 count fabric
Measurement are for design size only, you will need to add extra to each side for framing. Fabric used for the model is 32ct Raw Belfast Linen from Zweigart.
Soie D'Alger 146 x 3 or DMC 3818
You will also need:
3 mm Swarovski Bicones Emerald x 72
Miyuki Delica DB0605 x 298
This is not an exact conversion, the DMC is a bit brighter.
Floss estimates are for 32 count fabric using one strand of thread for stitching over two (except where noted). If using DMC, you might need to bump that to two strands for cross stitch and some of the specialty stitches – it doesn't cover quite as well. I only used 2 skeins of Soie D'Alger, but I didn't have any leftover, so I've listed 3 skeins just in case.
For the beads you could also substitute Miyuki seed 15-1422, Toho 36 (size 15/0) or Mill Hill 2055 – please note, the Mill Hill is a larger bead, but they should still fit comfortably.
