Item details

Crassula capitella 'Campfire', native to Africa, forms branching stems with light green leaves that morph through shades of yellow and orange, progressing to a bright red at the tips. The overall effect makes the plant look back lit as if it were a pile of glowing embers in a slow burning campfire. Leaves color up best in bright light, drought or cold temperatures. Offsets quickly to form wide mats. Excellent color accent in rock gardens or as a groundcover. Crassulas require very porous soil with excellent drainage. In habitat, usually grow in rocky quartz fields. Bright, filtered light and ample airflow. Water thoroughly when soil is dry to the touch. Summer dormant. Protect from frost to prevent scarring.

Succulent plants are some of the hardiest, most drought tolerant in the world and very easy to maintain, as long as they are planted in a porous soil, proper drainage, daily bright light, and not over watered.

You will receive well-established, rooted plants, currently growing in a 1 gal. pot, sent bareroot and packaged for transport. It will be shipped via USPS Priority mail.

When ordering from an area with weather below 32 degrees, please consider purchasing a heat pack.

Standard Care information for Succulents

They like good, bright light up to full sunlight. If your plant begins to show more and more space between the leaves, it is stretching and needs more light to help it keep a compact rosette shape. Keep soil relatively moist, letting them dry out between waterings. There are hundreds of varieties, some are species collected from the wild; and many are man-made hybrids. These plants are fantastic because of the range of colors in the leaves. These plants are drought resistant but do better with regular deep watering and fertilizing. Most tolerate shade and some frost, although hybrid species tend to be less tolerant. They can be propagated by separating offsets, but may also be propagated by leaf cuttings, and by seed if they are not hybrids. Echeverias are polycarpic: they may flower and set seed many times over the course of their lifetimes. Removing lower leaves keeps plants cleaner and healthier.

Plants can be out of soil and water for extended periods.
Place your plants back in the soil / water and they will perk up.

Remember, take them out of their packaging upon arrival and get them replanted. To remove the dirt that has shifted during transport, gently brush or blow on them. There will be some dirt on the roots, check for moisture, if the dirt feels moist wait to water. If you have any questions, convey me.
Please follow basic care instructions for your new plants.
