This eliminates the requirement of dispersion in alcohol or ethanol associated with Solvent based shellacs thus also saving preparation time. It can be used in all forms of application; quality synthetic, short length bristle-type brushes, foam brushes, lint-free cotton cloths and spray applicators. ALL clean up in warm soapy water and clear water rinse.
Marcus Art Water Based Shellac behaves as traditional shellacs behave but without the presence of a solvent. A smooth, silky delivery flow is experienced when using brush, cloth or foam applicators.
Marcus Art Water Based Shellac takes 5 minutes drying time depending on Relative humidity and room temperature.
This Water Based shellac has an excellent shelf life – approximately 12 months.
Water Based Shellac can be used in classroom exercises where 3D work requires adhesion. Tissue paper on cane armatures is a good example of this technique where the lightweight element of the materials is fused with shellac used in this case as glue. To colour - enhance 3D works, stable water based pigments can be added to Water Based Shellac to great effect using the basic material as binder for glaze - like and textural surfaces.
