Item details

As I was knitting this, the two colors blended together in such a way that it reminded me of the lichen that grows on trees in the forest. Looking the work up I discovered that "A lichen is a composite organism consisting of a fungus and a photosynthetic partner growing together in a symbiotic relationship. The photobiont is usually either a green alga or cyanobacterium." Scientific jargon aside, this pattern is also a composite of 2 different yarns that work together to create the design.

Use two similar colors in Noro Silk Garden like I did (#269 & #359) or choose 2 different colors that blend well. You will also need a set of US #7 double pointed needles.

"A very special thanks to Jackie Erickson-Schweitzer of HeartStrings FiberArts and her Honeycomb Shadow Lace Stole Pattern #H148 for the inspiration for this cowl and for the permission to use her stitch design to create this pattern. Also available are patterns for "Lichen Hat" and "Lichen Cowl" right here in my shop!
