"A very special thanks to Jackie Erickson-Schweitzer of HeartStrings FiberArts and her Honeycomb Shadow Lace Stole Pattern #H148 for the inspiration for this cowl and for the permission to use her stitch design to create this pattern. To see more of her beautiful designs, visit her website at www.heartstringsfiberarts.com."
This pattern reminded me very much of the Honeycomb that comes out of a bee hive and it is very easy to knit. You can use either sport weight or DK or Worsted weight yarn - the pattern is written for all three. I used Five Oaks Farm 100% Undyed Alpaca sport weight - 1 skein of "Kingyo" and 1 skein of "Red Ryder". This yarn is available at www.etsy.com/shop/fiveoaksfarm (no yarns listed at this time 12/4/2014).
You will also need either a set of US #2 and #4, #3 and #5 or #5 and #7 double pointed needles (depending on the weight of the yarn you choose) and corresponding 16" circular needles.
You can also knit matching mittens and a cowl - just look for "The Bees Knees Mittens" or "The Bees Knees Cowl" in my shop.
