I have no idea how old this handsome trim might be. I've had it in storage at my studio for over 20 years, and I bought it as vintage trim when I first found it. Style-wise, it does remind me of some naive 'Bloomsbury Group' 1920s trims. It also has the hefty weight and drama of late Victorian or Early Edwardian, but the condition and color don't seem right.

I think that this might be called Guipure lace, but don't quote me on that!

The design itself is an abstract flower, vaguely (east) Indian influenced. The flowers aren't roses. I think they might be poppies, with the separate shapes of the petals and the articulated inner bud or pod and stamens. The accent buds also look poppy-like to me, and paisley shaped as well.

It shows some evidence of having come off from another garment, and the shorter of the two pieces has been 'clipped' on one side to enable it to fit around a curve (maybe a neckline?)

The shorter piece is 15.5" long and roughly 2.75" wide, with three full flowers. This is the piece with some clipping for curvature.
The longer piece is just under 24" long, 2.75" wide and has 4 full flowers, as well as ending in vine or leaf on both ends.
TOTAL length for the two pieces combined is approximately 39 inches.

This is almost but not truly reversible - there is clearly a back and front to the embroidery. Both sides show the strong black satin stitch outlining throughout the pattern, but the back side has more loose threads and overlapped areas, etc.

The majority of the piece is a strong, clear Dark Royal Blue. I think that it's cotton.

Condition is Very Good vintage. There is no fading, and the piece does seem strong, and without damage. Again, I'm pretty sure that this was on a garment before I found it.

I find most of my items at estate sales, flea markets, thrift shops and auctions, and I offer them to you in pre-owned, as is condition. I make every effort to describe them to you honestly and to point out flaws that I find, and they're sent from my smoke free, pet free studio. I will ship to most countries, but if you're not certain please feel free to contact me before you purchase. Unfortunately, insurance through the US Postal System is not available except at the most expensive shipping rates for mailing internationally.

If my shipping cost estimate was over the actual cost by more than $2.00, I will refund the overage to you.

I'm happy to combine shipping for items if you purchase them at the same time.

Because of the nature of these items, unless they arrive damaged or defective, I can't accept returns for:

Conditions of return
Buyers are responsible for return shipping costs. If the item is not returned in its original condition, the buyer is responsible for any loss in value.
Additional return information
My items are sold 'as is', in vintage, pre-owned and / or used condition. I try to describe any problems that I find, and I will only refund if I have grossly misrepresented the condition or size of an item. In this situation, I will refund only after the item has been returned to me (and received) in the condition that it was shipped in.

Etsy policy requires that Sellers be responsible for refunds due to shipping loss or damage. Given this reality, I am adding appropriate insurance to all shipping prices in order to protect both of us. For Priority Mailing, this would mean any item valued over $50 US. (As I am selling unique items, I'm not able to offer an identical or similar replacement, obviously.)

In the rare case that your parcel arrives damaged, or the item has been damaged in transit, you MUST take photos of the damage and upload them for me ASAP, in order for me to file an insurance claim. I'm sorry, but no photos = no refunds.
