"A course of comparative studies in the lives and works of the classic composers", says the title page. This booklet would have been one in a series published by C. C. Bircher and Co, Boston, 1912. Boston in this period was booming, a hub of publishing and academia, manufacturing and mechanical industries, with the first subway trains, the first indoor skating rink, plans to redo the Boston Fish Pier and harbor, constructing Fenway Park, Franklin Park Zoo and the Fairmont Copley Plaza, among many others. This booklet gives a biography of the composer (highlights) as well as a sample of his work and a glossary of musical terms at the back. All in all, a nice little package. The front cover has a couple of condition issues (missing 2 small pieces) and back cover (missing a few pieces) as well. Old and interesting.
