Canon Canonet Electric Eye with Canon Se 45 mm(1:1.9) Lens. Made in Japan.
Serial No. 1301275 Included Canon Lens Cap + Strap
The Canon Canonet Electric Eye was released in 1961 and is remembered as Canon's first entry into the intermediate-class camera market, and also the first of the highly successful Canonet series of 35mm automatic-exposure rangefinder cameras.
Canon, at the time known as a high-end camera maker, caused commotion in the industry at the idea of this mid-priced camera. However, initial stocks sold out in only two hours after release. Within two and a half years, a million Canonets had been sold and successive Canonet models continued into the mid 1970s. The Canonet was also sold by Bell & Howell as the Bell & Howell / Canon Canonet 19.
• The body is in good condition with some cosmetic marks(a very light dent on upper base plate) and some scratches here and there.
• The meter responds readily to light changes and red circle, coupled to match needle is displayed in viewfinder as an exposure warning.
• The advance lever and shutter release are both working.
• The shutter fires, but it is a vintage camera and I can't guarantee it's accuracy.
• The lens glass looks decent. The viewfinder is clear.
• The film chamber looks clean.
Camera has NOT BEEN TESTED film.
