Captain Crossbones or the Pirate's Bride was an original comic opera in two acts - written and composed by Arthur A. Penn and published by M. Witmark & Sons, New York after the end of WW I in 1918. This is a bound book, couple of tears in the binding on the spine, but all the material is still there. Very good condition otherwise, including all the pages inside. Stamped "Reference Copy" at the top of the front cover in blue ink. There are some interesting ads at the back which merit note. The opera is also accompanied by the stage manager's book, stamped "Reference Copy", as well, which means it lived in a library for awhile. It doesn't look to me like these 2 pieces were ever used. What a find for a theater/opera company looking to mount an original historic production - or for an avid collector of vintage music!
