Shipping costs are based on the farthest coast from my Michigan, USPS.
Frequently the fastest and most cost effective shipping option is Priority mail, vs Standard.
It is my custom to refund if you have overpaid actual shipping costs by more than $3, taking into consideration my time and cost of shipping materials.

I shoot for speed and accuracy, using the U.S. Postal Service (USPS). Most often, I will use Priority boxes and envelops, unless Standard shipping is a lot cheaper, and the item is not fragile. Weight and size, and the distance from my Michigan, determines the rate cost. Standard rate is often the same or more than a Priority rate, and does NOT include insurance or faster delivery.
REFUNDS: Suffice it to say, I have to consider my time and cost of materials in shipping charges. Be assured, I have no desire to profit by over charging, so...because Etsy provides a way for me to refund over charges for shipping, I will do so if the overage is more than $3 over exact charges and/or cost (if any) of packaging materials. Fair is fair.
If you were to change your mind after I have shipped your order, I cannot cancel and refund, unless you refuse delivery and the package is returned unopened. The shipping charges, for BOTH WAYS, would also be deducted from your return payment, which is only fair.
NOTE: If your package has been mailed PRIORITY MAIL, there would be NO return shipping charges. However, if you have not specified "Priority" and it was cheaper to ship 'standard', then the USPS will charge me for return shipping. In that event, I will deduct that return shipping from your refunded price.
WORLD WIDE: I am more than willing to ship internationally on items weighing less than 4 lbs. I will need to know your country and the item you are interested in purchasing. Please request a shipping quote prior to making a purchase and that will enable me to post the shipping charges specific to your country.
CUSTOMS: Orders must be shipped as 'merchandise', which is my only legal option. Customs regulations and fees vary widely by country. Enforcement of extra charges seems to be random and rare, but is a possibility for the buyer upon delivery. Aunt Nan's Attic cannot be responsible for Customs fees should they be charged.
INSURANCE: Even though fragile items will be well packed, I cannot guarantee against damage in handling during shipping. I can tell you that in over 400 shipped pkgs, I have had only one item suffer damage. If an item is fragile you can be assured I will use Priority Mail, which has automatic insurance coverage up to $100.
TIMELINE: Most items will be shipped the next day. Should there be a delay for some reason, I will contact you.

Please be sure before you order. That will save both of us much hastle.
I am ready and willing to answer any and all additional questions through Etsy conversations and will provide as much information as possible in helping you make your decision. I will describe each item as realistically and honestly as I can, as if I were the one making the purchase...if I know there's a flaw, I will tell you and attempt to capture it in the pictures. I want you to be happy with your purchase and love it! That being said....
I would like all sales to be final. However, I realize that "life" happens. If you change your mind after receiving your item for whatever reason (i.e. don't like, doesn't fit...), please understand that I will refund only the purchase price AFTER I have received the item and found it to be in the same condition as when I shipped it. Return shipping charges would be your responsibility.
If the refund is necessary due to an error on my part, I will bear all shipping charges, and refund your full purchase price, AFTER the item has been returned in its original state. Again, fair is fair.
Returning and Refunding can get messy... as you can see. Let's avoid if possible.
My home is smoke free, cat free, and dog friendly (but no 'Fido' on furniture, carpeting or beds!). Most items are carefully kept in a walk-in cedar closet atmosphere, or moisture protected storage.
I will make every effort to portray true colors in pictures, and describe any known flaws in my descriptions. I will note any significant color variances from the pictures, and if there are props in some photos, they are understandably not for sale.
