Item details

Gorgeous vintage Italian glass seed beads made between 1890 and 1920. These striped beads were meant for the African trade but didn't make it out of the Murano factory until the 1990s. They have a truly great graphic presence.

What really intrigues me about these beads is that the color at the core of the bead is light blue, not white. I have some modern seed beads in white with thin blue stripes, but the cores of these beads are completely white.

These light-blue-cored white with blue striped beads take an unusual amount of skill to produce, and are from a much earlier (possibly pre-1900) manufacturing period.

Great for your own creative pieces, and repairing antique purses and jewelry. Sizes vary slightly; they are about size 11/0, about 16 beads per inch. See detail photo to compare with modern bead sizing.

You will receive ten grams.
