GEMSTONE TREATMENT GUIDE:
(D) - Dyeing: The introduction of coloring matter into a gemstone to give it new color, intensify present color or improve color uniformity.
(S) - Stabilization (Bonding): The use of a colorless bonding agent (commonly plastic) with a porous gemstone to give it durability and improve appearance.
C: The color of the stone is within the hue expected, but may not be vivid or even. Color tone is significantly lighter or darker--near the ends of the spectrum. Inclusions or matrix mineral content is more apparent and frequent. These will be easily visible to the naked eye. The stone may vary greatly in clarity/opacity from that expected. Cutting or shape exhibits some variances. Surface has a medium to low luster and polish. Cracks or chips are more apparent. Drilling may lack uniformity.
Turquoise is a hydrous compound of copper and aluminum, so it loses color when it loses water. To keep your turquoise from becoming dehydrated, it is a good idea to water it, as you would your houseplants, with pure saline water periodically to revive or maintain color. (If salty ocean mist makes the statue of liberty, which is made of solid copper, turn green, it will do the same for your turquoise.)
Turquoise is porous, so chemicals can damage it. Use only pure water and a soft cloth to wipe it clean, and you can clean your turquoise frequently without causing damage. The natural oil of your skin is good for turquoise, and it will naturally polish it when you wear it. If it is set in silver, wearing if often will also keep the silver from tarnishing. Silver polish will damage the surface of turquoise.
Don't store turquoise with harder gemstones or other materials that might rub against it and cause damage. Turquoise can fade in sunlight, excessive sweat, chlorine bleach and dishwater.
Additional Notes: If at anytime you resell gemstone jewelry obtained from us, or any gems for that matter, it is your responsibility to provide all pertinent information of the treatment of a gemstone. Example, if a stone is Manmade or Lab Created, it is the seller's responsibility to disclose that fact. This information is required by the Federal Trade Commission (FTC).
When present, failure to identify treatment of natural gemstones, is considered an unfair trade practice. As such, this information is required at each and all levels of jewelry commerce. Failure to inform buyers could subject violators to civil, as well as administrative remedies. Anyone who is unclear about these requirements, may write to the AGTA for clarification.

You must take care of any beadwork. You should NOT get it wet, this will weaken the threads and may result in color changes of the beads. Soaps, detergents, chlorine, oils, etc. will cause this. You should not store your beadwork in direct sunlight, as this can cause bead colors to fade.
All Sterling silver beads and findings will tarnish( darken), and all copper beads and findings will get a patina (green coloring) in time. This change in color is natural and not a cause for alarm. Most jewelry stores carry polishing clothes for copper and silver jewelry, that will take care of this
