When young Victor Frankenstein first arrives at university, he is unimpressed by his professors and the things they seek to teach him. Upon finally attending a lecture, he finds himself stirred up by his new teacher's words. "So much has been done, exclaimed the soul of Frankenstein - more, far more, will I achieve; treading in the steps already marked, I will pioneer a new way, explore unknown powers, and unfold to the world the deepest mysteries of creation." From this day forward, Dr. Frankenstein's zeal leads him down the path to making his famous creature.
In designing this sampler, my mind went to title cards in silent movies – hence the white thread on black fabric. For a different look, the colors could be reversed.
This pattern measures 120 by 110 stitches. The sample was worked on black 14 count Aida cloth and (stitched area) measures 8.57 by 7.86 inches. It took about 11 hours to stitch.
