Hi! This beautiful perennial produces long stems with showy, spurred blossoms. These little beauties glow a brilliant red/purple with a white outline, from late Spring to early Summer. Bloom time was about 6 wks. for this plant. I have them in both, full sun and shaded, and have gotten the same results from both. Oh, and the soil, please, these guys don't really care, as long as it's moist. My full sun columbine is growing in clay and rock, while the shaded one is clay with cow manure (from a bag). Last year after blooming, I cut the long stems (with seed pods) off and tossed them in my garden, putting a light layer of soil (about 1/8 inch) on top. I didn't separate the seed from the pod and still "Boom" baby columbine immediately came up this spring. Starting your columbine in a pot is a better way to control where they end up. Rain can shift your seed, and you may end up with them too close together. Final spacing should be around 18 inches apart, when they are 3 inches tall. Care instructions will be added into your package. Happy Gardening!!
