This knitting pattern describes the cardigan made in double knitting yarn, either a striped version, using two shades of plain dyed yarn, or a random/variegated and plain yarn. The cardigan is knitted one square at a time in garter stitch (all knit), picking up stitches to join the squares, very little sewing is needed. The size of the needles is 4mm (No. 8), 3.75mm (No. 9) and 3.25mm (No. 10). The cuffs will need four, double ended 3.25mm needles. The chest sizes described are 24" (61cm), 26" (66cm) and 28" (71cm). Alternatively this pattern is a good way to use up any left over yarn, maybe each square a different colour. The instructions are written with some diagrams to illustrate the make-up of the garment.
