This is a classic, pretty cowl pattern made for when the weather just starts to turn cold. It's the Mid-December Cowl, and it's perfect for beginners or anyone looking for an easy, soothing crochet project.
This is for the pattern ONLY. Not for the completed garment.
It's pictured crocheted in Lion Brand's Vanna's Choice yarn in Taupe, which you will need two skeins of. You can swap out another worsted weight yarn, or another color in that line. I try to make all my patterns in inexpensive, easy-to-get yarns that can be purchased at Walmart or Michaels (or similar stores). If you want to make an extra-special piece, why not trade the Vanna's Choice for one of my handspun yarns? :)
Upon purchasing this pattern, you are welcome to either give away your completed cowls or sell them. If you sell them online, I would appreciate a credit line of "Designed by Type A Fibers." Make as many as you want and do what you like with them!
You will have to know how to work in the round, and how to do single crochet, chain stitch, and slip stitch. That's it! That's why this classy scarf is good for beginners - the stitches are so simple and straightforward. The pattern contains photos for all the more complicated stitches (which are all based on either SC, Ch, or Sl st).
Completed cowl measures 6 1/2" x 21 1/2" folded, or 6 1/2" x 43" circumference. Wear it loose or double it up close to your neck.
Pattern designed by me, in my home in Jersey City, NJ. I am a single-maker shop. Everything you see here is made by me.
looking forward to trying this pattern - very pretty cowl - tried the pattern - somehow I went astray at some point and ended up with a beautiful ruffle for the second half. I love the results - a combo of your design and mine!
