Item details

This is a template for the above item. It is a PDF file of the pattern for the item, as previewed in the second image, that will be available for download immediately after purchase. It is not a physical product. The template consists of the pouches, the buckle, and the belt width; the canisters seen are made of 1/2 inch PVC pipe.

What is a template? If you have ever tried to make a prop or costume piece from scratch before and had a difficult time getting everything the right size and shape, a template is the thing you probably wished you had had during the process. It is a full sized, perfectly shaped and aligned pattern for all the pieces required to build a particular prop or costume piece. I start all of my projects by first making a template, and in fact all of the items pictured in my listings were created using these templates. I take great care to ensure that every shape is perfectly symmetrical, aligned, and the exact size and shape needed to make the item as it is seen in my product picture.

My templates print out at full size when printed on standard 8.5 x 11 inch printer paper, and can then be taped together, cut out, and used to trace the shapes onto EVA foam. The templates are designed for making the items out of thin (3 to 5mm thick) EVA foam sheeting, and are sized to fit average people, but may need to be altered depending on your size and the thickness of material you use. They do not come with instructions, but are generally simple and easy to understand. I do have detailed build tutorials for several different types of items (although not necessarily this exact item) on my website, and I am always happy to answer any questions about the build process. For those interested in comic book and movie screen accuracy, please note that I often take artistic liberties while interpreting the specific details of the items. Sometimes this is to make the design better suited to being made out of foam, and sometimes it's just a personal preference for one look over another. The point being, if you are trying to make a 100% movie or comic page accurate costume, my templates can be a helpful starting place, but you may need to make modifications depending on your reference pictures and interpretations.

I have personally found templates to be an incredibly helpful tool, and am almost certain they will be able to give you a great head-start on your project, but if for any reason you are not satisfied with your purchase simply let me know and I will send you a full refund. Thanks for looking! :)

This is the dumbes thing ever!!!! I thought I was buying a belt, but it turns out I was buying instructions, so I can make it my self. Wow, could have watched a YouTube video for free and learned how to do it. My mistake was not reading the instructions. My advance two you the buyer, is to make sure you read every detail, before buying anything.

If you have never used a template, go to the Foam Cave website for tutorials. I ended up removing one section of the pouch template because it made no sense where it was meant to be used. You'll see, it's the middle bit. Regardless, this is great. It's not 100% accurate to the 66 belt, but the buckle is great and easy enough to follow for a costume or cosplay piece.
