Hand made fused glass buttons. Flower Garden. A bright pea-pod green base with a silver/ice-blue dichroic triangle under thick textured clear to give it depth and contrast. Three, ¾” (19mm) square fused glass buttons made of opaque spring green, the dichroic layer is fired with the coating side down for a subtle metallic shine that has depth and a color that changes from barely-there-blue to silver. A round dot of transparent deep garnet next to a round dot of transparent light aqua gives it a delightful look of wild flowers in a field. Granted, the inspiration came from the view out my back window - my neighbor doesn’t plant hay every year and the off years are beautiful. They would be equally at home on a holiday vest, or a summer jacket. I’ve also been know to add buttons to cowls, bags and collars as a non-functioning decorative addition. I just love buttons, they are like jewelry for your wearables! :-) The elements are all fused into the glass and will not rub off.
A clear plastic button shank has been very securely attached to the back with epoxy.
These buttons weigh approximately 3.0* grams each and are best suited for a medium weight blouse, light vest or jacket.
These fused glass buttons were designed, cut, fused and annealed in a professional programmable kiln by me, in my home studio of all American made artisan glass. Great care is taken to produce an art button that will endure and wear well. As a sewer, knitter and weaver myself, I only make buttons that I would be happy to use on my own wearables.
Glass is the ultimate contrast to fiber; smooth, cold and shiny - it looks stunning when it is an embellishment to a handwoven jacket, knitted sweater, felted purse, or fabric covered book. These buttons have the texture and shine your creation needs to give it that final artsy touch.
Don't just up-scale, ART-scale your wearables!
Listing is for three buttons. Photos are of actual items available. This button design is not repeatable, but for more options, styles, or wholesale information you may visit my website at http://www.seaairarts.com/buttons-for-sale.html
Can be gently hand washed but remember, glass will NOT like your washing machine!
* ~~ Button Weight ~~ Afraid a glass button is too heavy? Here is a frame of reference; a typical 3/4" pewter button weights approximately 5g (grams), a US quarter weighs 5.6g, a US nickel weighs 4.9g, a US penny weighs 2.5g, and a US dime weighs 2.1g. This should help you judge if this button (weight listed above) will be appropriate for your intended use.

All items listed in my shop are made and ready to ship. Shipping and order processing takes 1 to 3 days, depending on my day-job schedule, or if it falls on a weekend. Orders received Friday, Saturday or Sunday (before 5 pm) will usually ship on Monday as long as it's not a US holiday. For special orders/requests please contact me or visit my web store at http://www.seaairarts.com/
Shipping costs on my listings are an educated guess. Orders of multiple items will be combined for shipping when possible and charged accordingly, this usually works out cheaper for the buyer and I like to keep both our costs as low as possible. Since you have already paid for your order, you will be refunded any shipping charges that exceed $1.50 over actual shipping costs. Shipping is US Priority Mail. It allows me to track the package and the delivery times are reliably quick (especially in the case of International orders). Packages also have a much better chance of actually arriving at their destination. All orders that total over $50.00 (US) before adding tax or shipping will be insured for both of our protection. International shipping is calculated at a guess, you can message/e-mail me for a more precise quote. Nothing will be shipped until all payments are received.
Some small, inexpensive items will be shipped by first class mail and you should see those prices reflected in the shipping cost for those items. Please let me know in the notes section of the checkout page if you prefer Priority or Express Mail instead.
I will ship to all US holdings as well as Canada, Ireland, Great Britain, Australia, and New Zealand. Other locations will be considered on an individual basis.
All payments go through PayPal or Etsy Direct Checkout.
Both are exceedingly easy and secure. Etsy Direct Checkout is built-in to your Etsy account.
Have a PayPal account you want to use? Your purchase will be processed through PayPal and will show up on your CC statement as “PayPal *SeaAirArts” (unless they have updated that feature) but other than that, it is no different than any other credit card payment. The benefit to both of these systems is that both PayPal and Etsy have been around for years and are very reliable and secure. Also, I (or any other merchant who uses them) will never have access to your credit card information or number, keeping you even safer.
Both are free to the buyer, any fees charged for transactions are paid by the seller (except if paying in a non USA currency, there is a small conversion fee paid by the buyer). Non USA buyers are responsible for all Customs & Duty fees.
Returns & exchanges
Returns are Cheerfully allowed for - a defect in workmanship - if we ship the wrong item - if you feel an item is not as it was represented to be in our Etsy Shop - or if you just truly hate it. We will work with you to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.
Please make sure your color choices are what you want and the item is truly to your liking before ordering. Shipping is only refundable if there is an item defect, shipping of wrong item, or mis-representation of item.
Every effort will be made to pack items carefully. Should an item be damaged in shipping contact me immediately, we will work together with the Post Office for resolution. If the order is insured, this will be easier and I will help all I can from my end. Upon resolution, I will replace it with a similar item in type and cost. Be aware that many of my hand made items are "one of a kind" and cannot be duplicated. On the up side; in all the seven years I have had online businesses (A Scattered Creative, Scarlet Zebra Fiber Art Supplies), I NEVER had a package damaged or lost in the mail. Knock on wood. :o)
I'm not disciplined enough to do commissions as a rule. However, if you like a certain button but need more of them, or want it in another color - lets talk!
I have recently done some buttons to match handwoven fabric for local artists - they have turned out well and I'm willing to try. Let me know if you are interested in having a go!
Wholesale inquiries for fused glass buttons are welcome.
