Item details

These are my remaining 2017 stock (price will increase in 2018 with fresh seeds). I would like to sell out my remaining stock before the new seeds are ready. They are less than a year old and will do well in your 2019 garden!

Seeds produced in this past summer/fall by sustainable methods (no added chemical fertilizers and zero pesticides!). These are the same seeds I will be planting in my own garden this coming summer.

Roots are often peeled and sliced like carrot sticks but the flavor is very mild - roughly the texture of a slightly underripe pear but with a neutral flavor, not sweet. Best used with dips (sweet or savory). I've never cooked them, but this is also a traditional preparation in their home range.

I observed the plants to be vigorous growers and they will need plenty of room for the vining portion of the plant (10-15 feet of growth, but I loop them back in and out of my trellis). For root development, 8-10 months of growth is best, but they should be harvested before the plant goes to flower. Best grown in the subtropics; if you live elsewhere, your results may vary. One root per plant will grow; these are baseball to softball size. Flowers are violet in color, attractive, and very abundant, if you choose to let them flower.

These are an excellent plant to grow in hot, steamy summer weather, even at my subtropical home! In fact, they may be best suited for southern climates. Germination rate should be very high (>75-85%).

Seed quantity will be 1 tsp (roughly 35 seeds, give or take). If you're interested in a larger quantity, please message me!

Estimated Shipping

Zip or postal code

Every effort is made to ship within 2 business day of your purchase. In many cases, the cost of shipping up to 6 half-pint jars is very similar to the cost of shipping just one jar. Jams and fresh mangoes are usually shipped via Priority Mail, and other items via First Class. If you have other needs, contact me and I'll be happy to adjust pricing accordingly.

Consider making the most of your shipping fees and ordering more than one jar or having a friend purchase a jar or two and split the shipping!

Jars will be individually wrapped then boxed before shipping to you.

Other payment methods can be possible, but message me to discuss your needs.

Conditions of return
Buyers are responsible for return shipping costs. If the item is not returned in its original condition, the buyer is responsible for any loss in value.
Additional return information
No returns/refunds unless product was broken in transit or defective upon opening of jar (and is opened within one year of the date it was canned).

Additional policies

Jams and preserves are all water bath canned and are safe for up to one year from the date they were canned (based on pH and heat treatment). This date (month/year) is written on the jar lid once the jar is cool enough for me to handle.

Custom orders are welcome, but please convo me to discuss available ingredients and other special requests (vegan sugar, pectin-free, etc.). I prefer using seasonal and local ingredients whenever possible.

Expanding recently to include other passions of mine including special items from my garden and casually elegant earrings.
