Opuntia microdasys, AKA Prickly Pear
Opuntia microdays, native to South America, is one of the more popular cacti known as "Prickly Pears". Shrub- forming with oval joints that are densely covered with short golden spines known as "glochids". Take care not to touch "glochids" ("dots" of minute spines that detach readily and can cause irritation to the skin and eyes). Flowers are lemon yellow to 3" in diameter, usually appearing in late spring or summer. Requires porous cactus soil with adequate drainage. Prefers bright light with ample airflow. Water thoroughly when soil is dry to the touch. Protect from frost.

Have fun creating your own container garden, refresh a garden, bouquets, centerpieces and more. The selection may vary due to seasonal availability. You will receive similar like plants from photographs but there might be slight changes due to the season we are in.

Succulents are a pretty hardy group of plants. They store water in their leaves and do well planted in a sandy soil to insure good drainage. They do well outdoors in warmer climates so be sure to bring them indoors if you live in a cooler climate where the temperatures drop to 40. Place them near a sunny window if you plan to keep them indoors.

You will receive 1 well-established, rooted plant, currently growing in a 2 inch pot, sent bareroot and packaged with great care. It will be shipped via USPS Priority mail.

If you are ordering from an area with weather below 32 degrees, please consider purchasing a heat pack.

Was sad to see every single paddle had fallen off during shipping. Otherwise healthy, but is not the look I'd been hoping for after the paddles all fell off.

Shipping dates are will be displayed on your invoice, will be from 7-10 days except during holidays, sales events or vacations and will be posted via USPS 2-3 day priority mail. Check your shipping time prior to purchasing. Open your package and unwrap as soon as they arrive. Succulent plants can lose their color, just remember they are a living plant and they prefer sunlight and a good soil mixture. Any of the listings that state plants are shipped bare root means that they are out of the pot and have very little soil. While they can travel that way its best to get them replanted as soon as they arrive. Please note that you will receive plants ordered, with that being said, colors will vary depending on seasonal changes and age.
Etsy and PayPal addresses must match. We are not responsible if the package is sent to an incorrect address, so please verify the shipping address. Signature confirmation is not customary but it is a available upon request. We are not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Standard Care information for Succulents

They like good, bright light up to full sunlight. If your plant begins to show more and more space between the leaves, it is stretching and needs more light to help it keep a compact rosette shape. Keep soil relatively moist, letting them dry out between waterings. There are hundreds of varieties, some are species collected from the wild; and many are man-made hybrids. These plants are fantastic because of the range of colors in the leaves. These plants are drought resistant but do better with regular deep watering and fertilizing. Most tolerate shade and some frost, although hybrid species tend to be less tolerant. They can be propagated by separating offsets, but may also be propagated by leaf cuttings, and by seed if they are not hybrids. Echeverias are polycarpic: they may flower and set seed many times over the course of their lifetimes. Removing lower leaves keeps plants cleaner and healthier.

Plants can be out of soil and water for extended periods.
Place your plants back in the soil / water and they will perk up.

Remember, take them out of their packaging upon arrival and get them replanted. To remove the dirt that has shifted during transport, gently brush or blow on them. There will be some dirt on the roots, check for moisture, if the dirt feels moist wait to water. If you have any questions, convey me.
Please follow basic care instructions for your new plants.
