This vintage piece is a like a pastille mint - the colors are both rich yet sublime, and you kind of want to taste it. I always imagine fairies hiding their secrets in dewdrops, and the colors that reflect off those drops at daybreak reveal everything. I could spend all day writing around these colors, but never really describe them. I hope the photos do some justice. I love that this is both a pincushion and a dish - it is the perfect size for spare buttons, bobbins, pins or tiny antique sewing scissors. I suppose mint pastilles would work well too, as quick fuel during a sewing bender.
The pincushion is about 5 inches tall and 5 inches wide at its extreme points. The dish is 4 by 2.5 inches, and the little cherub foot takes up some space. This is a vintage ceramic piece and is in excellent condition. There was a tiny chip on the inside surface of one of the basket handles, but that is well-covered by the pincushion. There are also two dark spots that seem to be in the glaze, in the bottom of the dish part; otherwise, the colors and gilded dish edge are in excellent condition. The pincushion is handknit in a checkered pattern, with crocheted flowers accenting the edge. The pincushion comes with the 4 pins that are shown.
