This pattern is designed from an original garment of the time period.
It was made with cotton fabric, typically white, but some were made with solid colored cottons or even print calico.
The petticoat has a front and back that are lined. It forms a cone shape down over the hips. There is extensive machine quilting done in a diagonal pattern which firms up the petticoat and leaves it quite rigid. The petticoat closes at the center front waistband with a buttonhole and button.
The pannier attaches at the waistband over the petticoat. You could choose to leave the petticoat off the pannier and attach each to their own waistbands, although the original combines both petticoat and pannier to the same waistband. The pannier has a lining which allows channels to be sewn across it for 3 rows of boning. Due to the small scale of this garment I added vertical lengths of boning at the center front of each pannier side to help hold the pannier closer to the body.
FYI: I purchase 8 mm Rigilene boning from corsetmakingsupplies.com and it fits quite nicely in this garment.
Pattern is sized to an AG doll with a 10 3/8 inch waist measurement.
Pattern prints on standard size 8 1/2 by 11 inch office paper.
