I recently found an albums full of these great Carte de Visite and cabinet cards. Many have dates and/or names. I am convinced these were part of a family collection, as there are multiple pictures of some individuals...and a family resemblance.
Dates range from the early 1870's to the late 1880's. Almost all of them are labeled on the back with ornate ads for the photographers. The backs are almost as beautiful as the fronts. They apparently enjoyed a booming business during this era.
I love the look of these old images and I love how they tickle the imagination. As one who has aspirations to write, I find these photos to be quite inspiring. These are living, breathing characters waiting for someone to write new stories about them.

There is a sepia stain on the print, but I think she is still adorable.
I have spent an inordinate amount of time editing the pictures, trying to get the condition, color, and exposure as accurate as possible. Don't want to misrepresent anything. They are well over a century old and in very good condition for the age. But they are OLD.
