Sew up this fabulous fifties pattern McCall's 5131 just in time to start your holiday sewing!
This was designed by Pauline Trigere and anything by her is highly collectible.
The style has a high, wide slightly scalloped neck with princess seaming on the top. It is barely off the shoulder. The front of the skirt has a deep curved slit hem for both lengths The back has princess seams for fit as well and a deep v scalloped back with back zip. I like how this dress has ya covered for style coming and going!
Make it cocktail length for your Thanksgiving and Christmas parties and full length for New Year's eve. Pull out those opera length gloves because this is the perfect style to wear them with and with a beautiful evening stole too. Some suggested fabrics for this dress are embroidered silk, brocade satin, peau de soie, velvet , velveteen, printed jersey, crepe and polished cotton. You can make up the sash in a contrasting satin. WOW. What a head turning style! It is a fairly easy style to sew up too.....
Vintage size 12 Bust 32, Waist 25 hips 34. You could safely add 2 inches to the measurements of the pattern without major alterations to the fit.
