Item details

A delightful combination of wool felt, embroidery, rick rack, and beads to help your family count the days until Christmas—a treasure to be shared by generations of children. Finished size 24" x 36".

You are purchasing a .pdf pattern that will be available for download as soon as you complete the transaction. You'll receive an email from Etsy with downloading instructions.

* 42 pages of illustrated, detailed instructions
* Helpful tips and tricks for easy assembly
* Full-size templates for the tree and ornaments
* Includes 26 ornament patterns to choose from
* Complete materials list
* Full-color photos for each ornament with decoration suggestions
* Level of difficulty: beginner to intermediate

You'll receive a complete materials list in the pattern, but just know that you'll be using wool felt, embroidery floss, rick rack, and your choice of beads, sequins, micro buttons, and bells.

The calendar is intended to be made from luscious wool felt. Most of the sewing is hand embroidery, making the calendar a lovely, polished heirloom. Final assembly is done on a sewing machine. The ornaments snap onto the tree (rather than Velcro) so that early in December when you have only a few ornaments snapped on, you have a tree that looks decorated.

There are so many opportunities to make this calendar a reflection of your own family personality. Ornaments can be quickly assembled with no embellishment, can be embroidered for a touch of charm, or can be well decorated with beads and buttons. Additionally, you have a choice of 26 ornaments for the 24 pockets. Choose your favorites, or let your kids take a vote. You could even make 24 of the same ornament!

I've received dozens and dozens of requests for kits. Thank you, sweet friends! So, in an effort to save you the hassle of running all over town gathering your calendar supplies and the expense of purchasing larger quantities than you need, I've assembled a kit for you. You can purchase it here:

I'm so pleased with how this turned out. The pattern was excellent and well thought out. Easy to follow for a beginner, once I got going. Thanks!!

A great pattern, exactly what I was looking for to create an advent calendar for my children, inspired by the one I had growing up. Although a confident sewist, I am not very experienced in the realm of craft and embroidery. The instructions provided were very thorough and easy to follow along to, very helpful explaining the different types of adhesives, etc. And what's not to love about rick-rack??
