I don't know exactly how old this piece quatersawn Oak is, I found it in an old barn a dozen years ago or so. It shows it's age on the outside, faded and weathered. Then you see what's on the inside, the ray fleck is simply stunning. It is 16" long x 3" wide x 3 /14" thick and is dense and dry. I ran the piece down the table saw and cut a couple of pieces 1/2" thick and made birdhouses from them. Once they were sanded and a nice finish was applied, the look was spectacular. Of course, I have a bit of a biased opinion, but the wood is beautiful. This is a choice piece of wood that will make for some incredible looking projects. I have some more of these pieces in various lengths as well. Thanks for looking.
