NO MORE COLD ANKLES!
We take our shoes off at the door and go about the house in our socks or barefoot. However, when it gets chilly outside, I like slippers to wear over my socks. But so many slippers either cover only my feet and leave my ankles cold, or they're boots lined with wool that make my feet sweaty. Over the years I have made many pairs of booties for babies and thought I'd give a go at making myself some adult sized booties. This pattern is the result of that effort and now my ankles are warm!
This is a super fast EASY and inexpensive project and great for last-minute gifting. When you make them yourself, you can knit the cuffs as high up the leg as you have yarn!
American sizes are provided in the description for Women who wear shoe sizes 6 through 10 and men 5 through 10. These are adjustable for feet between 9 and 10-1/2 inches from heel to toe.
A minimum of 190 yards of washable worsted weight yarn is required and size 5 US needles either straights or 24" circular. You'll also need a tapestry/yarn needle for sewing the seam..
Each boot is constructed in one piece. A single seam runs down the back and down the center of the sole. The pattern includes three design suggestions for the cuffs and many size choices. I've also included how much yarn is needed for long tail casting on, multiple places throughout with stitch counts so you can verify you have the correct number, several photographs and instructions for a stretchy bind off.
Knit, purl, knit through back loop, ribbing, yarn over, p2tog, SSK, slip a stitch purl-wise, short row turning, and sewing a seam.
The soles are created first and then toe shaping is done via short rows. A stripe of another color can be easily incorporated with instructions included.
Feel free to make these to sell! Just please give me credit for the design when you list them. Rachel said, "These were so much fun to make. I'm going to make them for my whole family!"
Currently available only in English. If you'd like to translate this pattern to another language for me, contact me and I'll send you another pattern from my collection for your trouble.
