This is 'Edwardian Rose' antique sewing Pattern #1912-A-006, in digital (PDF) format, for a beautiful, easy to wear Titanic era cape-jacket (mantelet) with contrast satin bands and satin collar.
This pattern, like all my Edwardian Rose patterns, is taken from an authentic historical source, in this case a jacket design that appeared in an early 1912 French fashion publication. Aside from grading the pattern for modern sizing, no changes are made to the original cut of the garment. To find out more about the process of developing an Edwardian Rose pattern, see my Shop details link at the bottom of this page.
This digital pattern is not a diagram or scaled-down sketch that you have to enlarge. Once you print it out and assemble the printed pages, you have a regular FULL-SIZE pattern that can be immediately cut out and sewn.
It is exactly the same as my paper pattern, but in PDF format, offered at a lower price than the paper version, and of course with no shipping cost!
How does an instant digital download work? See: https://www.etsy.com/ca/help/article/3949 for details.
Please note that this listing is for the digital jacket sewing pattern only, not the finished garment(s) shown in the photo. ;-)
This PDF format pattern can be printed on a home inkjet or laser printer. Printing and assembling is easy, and full instructions for printing your pattern are included.
The digital download files also include my step-by-step sewing instructions (in English), which include historical information on the garment, suggested fabrics, and a guide to yardage and notion requirements. A copy of the pattern envelope cover (with the antique sketch) is also provided in the download package.
The only thing that is not included in my patterns are layout sketches for the various fabric widths, since these would be very time-consuming to anticipate and draw out, would increase the cost of the patterns significantly and more than double the time needed to produce each design. (Unlike Vogue or Butterick, I unfortunately don't have a staff of graphic artists on hand!).
The pictures above show this lovely mantelet in two different versions, both in lightweight wool with silk satin contrast bands and collar. The jacket can be made more quickly without the satin bands, but I think they lend elegance and distinction to the design and are well worth the effort.
This jacket works especially well as a dressy walking suit with my pattern #1912-A-010 (Tulip skirt). One of the photos above shows the jacket displayed with the skirt (front and back views). The skirt pattern, in a multi-size format, is available in my shop.
SIZE: This cape-jacket pattern is drafted in two ladies' size ranges - Small/Medium and Large/Extra Large. Both patterns are included on the PDF file. Zoom on the photo of the pattern envelope for measurements. Because the jacket is loose through the bust and adjusted with the matching belt (pattern included) through the waist, it's a very flexible and easy fitting garment.
RECOMMENDED SEWING SKILL LEVEL (3.5/5): Moderately experienced. There is some care and patience required (and some hand finishing) to create the satin bands, but my detailed sewing instructions will guide you through the process.
Make your historic Edwardian outfit truly authentic with this lovely Titanic era cape-jacket!

I can create a custom garment from practically any pattern design in my 'Edwardian Rose' antique pattern line, provided your measurements fall within the range shown on the pattern. I will consider custom-fitting an order outside those sizes, at additional cost.
Commissions for custom work are completed in the order in which they are received. Because I accept only a few commissions per year, 5 to 8 weeks is the usual completion time, depending upon complexity of the design.
