These seeds are from gorgeous marigolds (photos don't even do the plants justice :) called "French Dwarf" variety though they can get to be quite large plants so "dwarf" may be a misnomer :) They are prolific, long-lasting bloomers. We have been growing these flowers for several years now. Marigolds are known to attract a variety of beneficial insects & repel predatory insects from your vegetable and fruit plants. For this reason we grow them between our tomatoes, peppers & other vegetables.
Their shades of yellows, oranges, & even deep magenta are truly spectacular. They have a sweet scent but not too strong.
Our marigolds continue well into the Fall season & we are in Central California where temps drop down to the 40s & 30s at night; our marigolds are still going strong! Given good soil, sun & water - these seeds are sure to produce an abundant harvest of showy blooms in your garden!
I harvested and hand-sorted these seeds from our own healthy plants.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Other notes~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Open-pollinated, non-hybrid & non-gmo. We use no pesticides or herbicides (ie, "round-up") in our garden. Did you know that drawing beneficial insects to your garden with various flowers & herbs is a natural & non-harmful way to keep "bad" bugs at bay? In other words..... when you plant herbs & flowers amongst your vegetable plants you will be attracting insects like lady bugs, praying mantis, lacewings, soldier beetles, etc..... These beneficial insects love to eat things like aphids & other plant devourers. So instead of the pesky pests eating up your garden & your food the good bugs will be dining on them instead :) Perhaps many people already know this fact but for the new gardener or one who is accustomed to using chemical pesticides and herbicides this is a good thing to know. When we use man-made chemicals in our gardens we hurt the beneficial insects (including bees, which we need for pollination & honey, etc....) & all those chemicals DO end up going into the ground & possibly the ground-water, streams, rivers, lakes & oceans eventually. This is harmful both short-term & long-term to people and animals as well. I highly recommend learning organic & natural gardening methods to be good stewards of the land entrusted to our care. With the internet we have at our fingertips it is VERY easy to get educated on these natural methods of gardening.
