Small Natural bird nest Found in NE Missouri Teaching Aid Wreath decoration Photo prop Real bird nest Wildlife display Craft Supply MAN #4
Nest picture #1 is from the incoming birds point of view.
#2 is taken of the side
#3 was taken from the the bottom.
#4 & #5 are to let you see the different materials used in this nest: the main thing is grass.
It is about 3 1/2" front to back and side to side. It is almost 1 1/2" tall and the inside of the nest is approximately 1/2" deep.
This is a VERY solid nest made from grasses and lined with dried mud.
One of the things I noticed after spotting a nest that had fallen out of a tree is that nests are truly one-of-a-kind. Once I found the 1st one I was fascinated and would point them out to the grandchildren when we were walking around the farm and they caught the bug and bring their treasures to me. They make a little money but the biggest benefit is they also appreciate nature more now. That is the explanation for the letters and # in the titles.
They are interesting as there are so many sizes, shapes, as well as building materials used.
The birds do NOT reuse the nests but build fresh each year, I have not seen a single bird that was capable of putting the nest back in a tree.
The bird didn't use a blueprint and nothing is exact!
This would look great on a wreath or any earthy display and also for a photo prop. It would also be a great teaching tool in the classroom or for any home schooled family.
The nests are just as they were found, I do not spray them so there will be some loose material and some dirt.
It is in great condition and will be packaged to arrive to you in that condition.
****I went to the Conversation Department and asked if it was okay to sell the nests and the Agent told me it was as long as there were no feathers or pieces of egg shell in them. They are abandoned after a seasons use and then are considered by them to be just sticks and other building materials.
