In this workshop you will learn skills to make an interesting surface out of scraps of material embellished with stitch then made up into something useful…a bookwrap. There is a theme of noughts and crosses but as you read through the project you will see there are always options to make something in your own style.

Equipment and Materials needed.....
A sketchbook
A piece of firm iron on Vilene (see illustration for size)
Strips of fabrics about 2cms, ripped or cut, lining, scrim, lace, muslin, cheesecloth…preferably cotton or linen.
Masking tape
Iron, board and baking parchment
Scissors and general sewing kit
Funky foam, thin
Mountboard scraps + double sided tape
Wine bottle corks
Glue gun or PVA
Palette or plate
Small sponges
Coloured shot organza, transparent
Sewing machine
Embroidery threads, hand and machine
Fabric for lining and binding
A buckle or Chinese coin with square hole for the closure
A barbecue stick for the coin closure
