The Cuffed Christmas Stocking from Churchmouse Yarns is a classic pattern that you'll come back to year after year. The pattern is written for three different sizes of stockings: wee, medium (shown in photos of red and white stocking), and jolly. It's incredibly customizable and the pattern includes multiple design ideas, including stripes and embroidered designs.
The construction of the stocking is made fairly simple with an after-thought heel technique and is perfect for an advanced beginner or intermediate knitter. With included yarn, this kit will make up to 3 stockings.
Yardage for each size is as follows:
Cuff: about 40 (70, 100) yds of worsted-weight yarn. Leg: about 70 (115, 170) yds of worsted-weight yarn. This is for standard lengths; you will need about 10 (12, 14) yds of worsted-weight yarn for each additional inch of knitted length. Heel & Toe: Approx. 20 (25, 35) each of worsted-weight yarn. Foot: Approx. 45 (75, 105) yds of worsted-weight yarn.
Total yardage: Wee: about 195 yards. Medium: about 310 yards. Jolly: about 445 yards. This kit includes 3 colors of yarn, each at 220 yards per skein. This will give you a total of 660 yards. Do your math on what colors you would like to use for each stocking and this kit can make 1 jolly size stocking, 2 medium size stockings, or 3 wee stockings. It helps to plan it out ahead of time before you get too far along.
