Something surprising grew in my garden! This whimsical cocoon and matching hat make a cozy swaddling for a newborn baby. And all it takes is one giant ball of chunky yarn! (Or several smaller ones.)
The recommended skill level for this project is intermediate/advanced. There's a ruffle, there's a frill or two, and a curlicue, and front-post and back-post stitches add texture as well.
If you have never done post stitches, fear not! They are just like regular stitches except that they go around the post of a stitch instead of into the top loops.
Finished size: 18.5 inches circumference x 20 inches long
Gauge: 12 dc = 4 inches, 5 rows = 4 inches
I used one ball of James C. Brett Marble Chunky yarn (341 yards), color MC33.
Use an I hook (or size to get gauge.)
