vintage Univex Model A Camera with exposed film in camera bakelite body lomography
Here is a fantastic vintage Univex sub-miniature film camera, a jewel of a camera. It has a roll of film still inside the camera, most likely explores, hard to tell if the entire roll has been exposed, a diamond symbol appears through the red window. Introduced in 1933, it has a wire-frame finder with the rear sight moulded onto the body and the front frame folding onto the lens barrel.
Original cost was only $0.39, and it used Universal's no.00 roll film at $0.10 per roll. This camera is in great condition. Shutter fires, but really it s just a simple mechanism that opens the lens to light. The film is self advance, body made of bakelite. Made by Universal Camera Corporation, New York, NY, USA. States , On camera -- "Use Univex N200 Filmrolls Daily & Equipped with Special Univex Synchromatic Speedlens". It measures 3 1/2" x 2 1/2" 2" tall.
These simple cameras are being used to take soft focus, impressionistic photographs somewhat reminiscent of the Pictorialist Period of artistic photography, but using contemporary themes and concepts, known as lomography.
Because these simple cameras frequently suffers from light leaks, film advance issues, and other problems and because of its low-quality plastic lens, it has been celebrated for its artistic effects in photographs, normally resulting in a slightly blurred composition that can provide a 'dreamlike' quality to the print.
This camera should be used to take photographs! But it would also make a great addition to a home decor collection, can be used as a theater prop, as a fashion photography shoot accessory, or for display is a store.
