SMALL Natural Adobe nest Northern Missouri Teaching aid Wreath decoration Photo prop Wildlife decor Centerpiece Wedding Baby shower GL2
This was found in NE Missouri in Adair county.
Nest picture #1 is from the incoming birds point of view and #2 is the adobe bottom,#3 and #4 &5 are taken from the sides and bottom of the nest.
It is about 1 1/2-2" tall and the inside of the nest is approximately 1/2" deep and 4" across the top.
This nest is made from mud which makes this nest heavier than most. It is lined with a little grass but the adobe can be seen there too.
**This would look great on a wreath or in a centerpiece for a wedding or baby shower, any earthy display or photo prop and could be an asset in the classroom.
The nests are interesting as there are so many sizes as well as building materials used.
The birds do NOT reuse the nests but build fresh each year. They are picked up from the ground around the farm/ranch after they blow out of trees, there is no bird capable of putting them back in the tree and they wouldn't use them after they have been touched by humans.
The bird didn't use a blueprint and nothing is exact!
The nests are just as they were found, I do not spray them so there will be some loose material and some dirt. If you want the nest sprayed with clear shellac please let me know when you make the purchase and be prepared to wait a few days for it to dry before shipping.
It is in great condition and will be packaged to arrive to you in that condition.
****I went to the Conservation Department and asked if it was okay to sell the nests and the Agent told me it was as long as there were no feathers or pieces of egg shell in them. They are abandoned after a seasons use and then are considered by them to be just sticks and other building materials.
