Item details

This kit includes two skeins of worsted weight Z-plied yarn and a pattern that gives instructions for two different styles of Swedish Twined Mittens, knitted in the round. The instructions assume you are unfamiliar with this fascinating technique–a primer of all the skills you'll need is within the pattern! Twined Knitting (or Tvåänddstickning) developed in Sweden around the 1600s and involves knitting with both ends of the skein to create a warm, elastic, embossed fabric. Because of the way the yarns travel as the knitting progresses, Z-plied yarns (which are constructed differently than most yarns) are traditionally used.

The two different mitten patterns include: two thumb gussets, two different pattern motifs, and two tip shaping methods: The Braid Decrease and the Sectioned Decrease. You can build your skills as you knit a warm and comfy pair of mittens! The amount of yarn included will make one pair of mittens.
