Especially designed for delicate knife work in fur caping this knife is a surprisingly handy little companion, weather you be in the kitchen or high on a mountain. Steel is 440C stainless hardened to 58-60 rockwell, providing an excellent compromise between hardness and toughness with the low maintenance benefits of a stainless steel. The blade has a 2 3/4" cutting edge and a brush satin finish. I personally have carried one of these knives this hunting and trapping season, the little knife has performed wonderfully through skinning 2 deer, 2 rabbits a fox and a big old raccoon without having to re-sharpen! Choose a premium wood or handle material you love, or if you have no preference I recommend my personal favorite, an American classic: high figured walnut. If you are after the ultimate in durability, consider the option of micarta. The above pictured knives are, in order: figured dark maple, cocobolo, pistachio, and chakte kok. Each knife comes with a kidex sheath, custom fitted to that knife for a snug fit. Knives klick in and out of the sheaths nicely and don't fall out, they can be hung from a necklace or dropped in a backpack or even your pocket.
* Asterisks are placed by woods which will be stabilized. Stabilizing is a process which I use on woods with specific qualities. The wood is infused with a hardening resin in a vacuum which causes total penetration, dramatically increasing the woods density, strength, stability, water resistance, and over-all durability.
Please note that wood is never the same, each knife is an individual and while I can guarantee that I will get you the species you request, I can not say that it will have the exact same color, grain, and figure of a knife pictured. That is one of the wonders of wood.
