For sale is this unused set of 6 24k gold and silver inlaid Amita Damascene buttons in the original box 1947. They have never been used and are in pristine condition. Please feel free to email questions.
Damascening is the art of inlaying different metals into one another—typically, gold or silver into a darkly oxidized steel background—to produce intricate patterns similar to niello. The English term comes from a perceived resemblance to the rich tapestry patterns of damask silk. The technique has a long history in Japan, where it was used to decorate katana fittings, particularly tsuba. Damascened-inlay jewelry, especially of Japanese origin, is sometimes referred to as shakudo from the use of that alloy as the dark background. Cities that are known for a rich history in Damascening where the technique is still practiced are Toledo, Spain, and Kyoto, Japan.

Fine jewelry is not sold as scrap gold, by wholesale weight prices. These are fine pieces unless clearly stated scrap. I am not a gemologist. I'm selling personal items collected over the years. I try to describe items to the best of my ability and from what information was presented to me at time of purchase. All appraisals are subjective and vary from gemologist to gemologist.
Asian antiques have also been researched and I give the information that was presented to me when I purchased the items. Again I strive to give as accurate information as my ability allows. I am not an antiquities dealer. I'm simply selling personal items collected through the years.
This is not a wholesale, consignment or layaway shop.
Please do not ask for a transaction outside of this selling site. There will be no local meetings for transactions regardless of your location.
If you require faster delivery, priority options will be offered and priced accordingly. Just send a message and I will accommodate you to the best of my ability.
I generally only ship to US destinations unless individual exceptions are made. International Buyers assume all responsibilities for fees outside of shipping. I do not pay duties or tariffs for buyer. Import duties, taxes and charges are not included in the item price or shipping charges. These charges are the buyer's responsibility. Please check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to buying. These charges are normally collected by the delivering freight (shipping) company or when you pick the item up. Do not confuse them for additional shipping charges. We do not mark merchandise values below value or mark items as "gifts" - US and International government regulations prohibit such behavior. Again any item returned as undeliverable or refused to avoid tariffs for your country will be returned to general stock with no refunds.
