Item details

Hand painted yarn 100g. fine mohair laceweight pale lavender blue
The base yarn for this is a skein of 80% fine mohair from the angora goat, and 20% acrylic. The acrylic strengthens the yarn (you do not want breaks in lace knitting) and reduces the risk of pilling, but at 80% natural fibre the yarn remains soft - nothing like the itchy sort of mohair some people remember from the 1980s!!
I hand painted this one in shades of lavender and grey blue, with just the lightest touch of lime and violet.. The last picture gives an idea of the subtle colour blocks, before the yarn was re-skeined.
I would use this one on fairly large needles to create an open, airy fabric - a delicate scarf or shawlette. It is a fine yarn - laceweight but not cobweb. See picture against a 1 inch ruler for better idea of gauge.

This is 1 fat skein, weighing 100 grams and approx. 600 yards
